Governor and Lieutenant Governor: The Governor of South Carolina is the chief executive of the state. The governor is elected to a four-year term and may serve up to two consecutive terms. The Lieutenant Governor is the second-in-command of the state's executive branch. The governor and lieutenant governor run on the same ticket
Cabinet: The South Carolina Constitution provides for both election and appointment of executive officers. The separately elected positions allow for the possibility of multiple parties to be represented in the executive branch. Officers are elected at the same time as the governor.
