Cabinet: The South Carolina Constitution provides for both election and appointment of executive officers. The separately elected positions allow for the possibility of multiple parties to be represented in the executive branch. Officers are elected at the same time as the governor. In most cases, cabinet-level appointments are based on recommendations by the governor and approval by the Senate.

The South Carolina Senate is the upper house of the South Carolina General Assembly (or Legislature). It consists of 46 Senators, elected from single-member districts for four-year terms coinciding with United States Presidential Elections.
Three Senate districts serve different portions of Beaufort Country while two Districts serve Jasper Country.
SC House of Representatives: The South Carolina House of Representatives consists of 124 Representatives, elected to serve two-year terms at the same time as the Congressional elections. There are six State Representative Districts that intersect with Beaufort and Jasper Counties:
